Sidebeak Pencilflower, Stylosanthes biflora, a native perennial that grows to a height of 1.5 feet. Stems are slender and mostly erect. Leaves are alternately arranged on the stems. Leaves are trifololate. A compound leaf with three lealets that are elliptic to lanceolate in shape. Margins are entire. Leaflets are pubescent.
Small pealike flowers have corollas with 4 yellow petals. Ten stamens are at the center of the corolla. Flowers bloom from late spring to fall. Fruit divide into one-seeded segments.
Stylosanthes is Genus of the Fabaceae or (bean or pea family). There are two other native species are in the Genus.
Distribution is in the Panhandle and a portion of central Florida.
